Privacy & Cookie Policy

How SPIL Glass Software collects, uses and protects your personal information on this website — and how we use cookies and similar technologies.

Last updated

SPIL Glass Software (“SPIL”, “we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. It also serves as our cookie policy. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other privacy laws that apply to us.

Who we are

SPIL Glass Software develops business software for the flat glass industry. We are headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, with an office in Dallas, USA, and a US sales partner, DeGorter Inc, in Monroe, North Carolina. Our contact details are at the end of this policy.

Information we collect

Information you give us

We collect the information you choose to send us when you:

  • send an enquiry through the contact page;
  • book a demo;
  • sign up for the SPIL Glazier App;
  • subscribe to our newsletter (your email address only);
  • email or call us directly.

Depending on the form, this can include your name, business name, email address, phone number, country, company website, company size, details about your business and the software or machinery you use, and anything you write in a message. Please don’t include sensitive information (such as health or financial details) in a message.

Information collected automatically

If you allow Analytics cookies in our cookie banner, our analytics records basic information about your visit. If you don’t, or haven’t chosen yet, it doesn’t run:

  • the pages you view, their titles and when you view them;
  • the website or campaign that brought you here (referrer and UTM campaign details);
  • your screen size, and your browser, operating system and device type (from the information your browser sends);
  • random visitor and session identifiers (see Cookies and browser storage).

Like every website, the servers that deliver this site and our service providers also receive your IP address as part of normal internet communication.

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry, arrange your demo or set up your Glazier App access;
  • send you our newsletter, if you have subscribed;
  • keep a record of our communications with you and of your cookie choices;
  • understand how the site is used — which pages are visited and which campaigns bring visitors — so we can improve it;
  • keep the site and our forms secure and prevent spam and misuse;
  • meet our legal obligations.

Where the GDPR or a similar law applies to you, we rely on your consent (for example, for the newsletter), on steps you ask us to take before entering into a contract (such as a demo request), on our legitimate interests in running and improving our business and website, and on our legal obligations.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run this website and our business:

  • Frontillo (app.frontillo.com) provides our customer relationship management system. It hosts the contact, demo and Glazier App sign-up forms shown on this site, stores newsletter sign-ups, runs the website analytics and records cookie choices.
  • Our website host, which serves the site to your browser.
  • Our team in Australia and the USA and, for enquiries from North America, our US sales partner DeGorter Inc, so the right people can respond to you.
  • Professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information.

Storage outside Australia

Because we work with customers and partners in several countries, personal information may be accessed by our team and partners in the USA, and our service providers may store it on servers outside Australia. When we share information overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is protected in a way that is consistent with this policy and Australian privacy law.

Cookies and browser storage

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. This site uses browser storage (local storage and session storage) for the same purposes; in this policy, “cookies” covers both. We use them in these categories, which match the options in our cookie banner:

  • Necessary — needed for the site and our forms to work, including remembering your cookie choice. These are always on.
  • Analytics — help us understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it.
  • Functional — remember your preferences and choices.
  • Marketing — used to personalise advertising and content.

Necessary items are set straight away. Analytics items are set only after you allow Analytics; if you later turn it off, they are deleted. At the time of this update, the site does not use any functional, advertising or marketing cookies.

  • Your browser. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Clearing this site’s data also removes the items listed above. Some parts of the site, such as the forms, may not work properly if you block them.

Keeping your information secure

The site is served over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and we take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires, then delete or de-identify it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.

Access, correction and your rights

You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask us to delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy of it, or withdraw your consent at any time. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

We send our newsletter only to people who subscribe. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter, or by contacting us.

This site links to other websites, such as our social media pages, our newsletter archive and map directions. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we change how the site works. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top.
